The University of York welcomes applications from mature candidates.
In recent years about 13% of our new students have been mature students and in some departments the proportion is much higher. Mature students come to us from a wide range of backgrounds with qualifications ranging from conventional A levels to Access and Foundation courses.
The specific entry requirements for each department or programme are listed in our current prospectus. However, entry requirements for mature applicants are not totally rigid and can vary from one individual to another. Departments are looking for:

The Student Union provides support for Mature Students through the 21 Plus Association. Please take a look at their website to see what help and support they offer for students once they are studying here.
